Candela P-8 Voyager

Without leaving a trace.

P-8 Voyager

A better way to travel

Meet the P-8 Voyager, the first zero impact craft for long-range exploration.

Engineered to go where other electric boats can’t, without leaving a trace behind.
Thanks to active hydrofoils, the P-8 Voyager combines silence, performance, and superior range into a design that brings a better experience for passengers, while leaving a minimal footprint.

The most advanced electric boat battery pack ever comes from… a car. Like the C-8, the P-8 Voyager uses the same 69 kWh pack as the Polestar 2 electric performance fastback.

Polestar batteries also bring DC charging to the table, which means P-8 Voyager now combines the long electric range with the fastest charging times.

Candela C–POD

The Candela C-POD is the most efficient and longest-lasting boat motor ever built.

Submerged, direct-drive electric motors provide an absolutely silent ride while eliminating transmission losses.

The Candela C-POD is built to last a human lifetime, without maintenance.

The Flight Controller uses different types of sensors to measure the boat’s position, speed, and acceleration in six degrees of freedom to create a precise and stable hydrofoiling experience.

After 10,000+ hours of simulations, design iterations, and sea trials, our software provides the safest and most thrilling boating experience.

Foil system

Hydrofoils are the key to a long all-electric range at sea.

Candela’s electric hydrofoil system reduces water friction by 80% compared to a planing boat and makes for a completely different – and better – ride.

The hydrofoils are constantly and automatically adjusted by the onboard Flight Controller, to maintain a superbly stable ride in all weather conditions.

Candela C-POD is specifically developed for our electric hydrofoil craft.

All-weather capability

On hot summer days, the sunroof slides back for a truly open-yacht vibe. Optional air conditioning, or heating, ensures cabin comfort in all temperatures.

Elevated experience

Designed to be the quietest on the market, the P-8 Voyager cabin provides a peaceful environment for 6 passengers. Even in rough conditions and at high speeds.

40 NM at high speed

40 min charging time on 50 kW DC

Candela P-8 has a range of 40 nautical miles per charge traveling at 22 knots. The achieved range is about 4 times longer than the best electric boats currently on the market.

A full charge gives you enough energy to travel the entire San Francisco Bay.

P 8 Voyager Stockholm Range Circle

The entire Stockholm Archipelago is reachable on one charge, and most destinations require no charging for completing the return trip.

Market proven

Built upon market-leading, existing technology

Following five years of R&D, Candela’s revolutionary electric hydrofoil craft first debuted in 2018. Since then, our C-7 and C-8 leisure boat models have dominated electric boat sales in Europe thanks to a unique combination of long electric range, high speed, and superior comfort.

Retractable hydrofoils

The retractable C-FOIL system makes P-8 Voyager a true no-compromise electric boat. In shallow mode, the foils and Candela C-POD are protected by the hull. In extreme weather conditions that prevent foiling, P-8 Voyager can be driven as a conventional boat, albeit with reduced range.

P 8 Retraction 0001 v01

Foiling mode for all speeds above 16 knots. Highest efficiency, longest range.

P 8 Retraction 0002 v01

Planing mode for extreme wave heights, speeds up to 20 knots. Reduced range.

P 8 Retraction 0003 v01

Shallow mode. Protects foils and the Candela C-POD. Low speeds only.

P 8 Retraction 0004 v01

Harbor mode. Foil system fully retracted above waterline to eliminate risk of fouling on front and aft foil systems.

Always connected

Investing in a Candela means easy ownership – and 24/7 service if you need it.

The Candela C-POD needs far less maintenance than gasoline outboards. Through remote diagnostics, our service technicians are there for you, anywhere on the planet.

We believe in a seamless machine-human interaction, and pride ourselves on delivering the best user experience of any boat. Over-the-air updates keep your P-8 Voyager up to date over the craft’s lifetime.

Reducing local emissions by 99%

P-8 Voyager is a long-range, all-electric craft that travels silently above the surface. No emissions. No sound pollution or disturbance of marine life.

We designed it to be the most efficient boat ever built. At 20 knots, the energy usage per nautical mile is just 1.5 kWh. To put that into perspective, that’s the energy content of 0,1 liter of gasoline.

100% Carbon fiber, built in Sweden

With experience from fighter jet technology and airplane design, we design our hulls to be extremely light, while still rigid and strong. The P-8 hull is vacuum infused from 100% carbon fiber, which allows the weight to be significantly less than similar boats.

On a weight-to-strength ratio, carbon beats glass fiber by a wide margin.

What is the maximum passenger capacity?

Driver + 700kg.

Are the foils retractable? Can you drive in shallow water?

Yes, the foils are fully retractable by the push of a button. In shallow water mode, draft is 0,7 meters. Candela C-7 can be launched and stored on a custom float-on trailer.

What is the cost of driving a Candela C-7?

The C-7 is 95 percent cheaper to drive than a gas-powered boat! A full charge costs 5-7 €. A comparable fossil fuel bowrider would use fuel for 200 €.
